Mukesh has committed an illegal act of bigamy
It was just a few days ago that the news of Malayalam actor Mukeshs second marriageto danseuse Methil Devika was celebrated by the media. Now, actress Saritha, who separated from Mukesh after 18 years of marriage, has come out in the open against theactor. In a statement to the press, Saritha has stated that, though they had applied for divorce in 2009, they have not been legally divorced.

Saritha, who is currently residing in Dubai with their son Shravan Mukesh, who is pursuing his degree there, says in her statement that Mukesh has illegally married Devika without legally dissolving their marriage. Although the couple had filed for divorce by mutual consent before the family court in Chennai in 2009, the actress says that it was eventually annulled.
Mukesh did not appear in the court for many hearings, whereas I travelled down from abroad each time for the court hearings. Later, due to his consistent absence, the divorce petition on mutual basis was withdrawn by me in 2010. Thereafter, Mukesh has not sent me any notice or petition for divorce, she says.
Saritha also states that she was gagged by her alcoholic husband from pursuing a decent career during her heydays after marriage and that she was subjected to frequent physical and mental torture, which forced her to file for divorce seeking dissolution of the marriage and for alimony.
Taking advantage of my absence in India and without dissolving our marriage legally, Mukesh has committed an illegal act of bigamy by marrying another woman and as such, I am taking all steps, both before the civil and criminal forums, to take necessary action against Mukesh, she states.
Despite our repeated attempts, Mukesh was unavailable for comment. However, a source close to the actor says, This accusation is absolutely absurd. Mukesh has legally registered his marriage with Devika, and it is quite obvious that he had produced all the necessary documents before the court to prove that he has been legitimately separated from his former spouse. If he had not produced the legal documents, then the registrar would have objected to the second marriage.
