What started off as a regular audio launch event quickly escalated to one of the biggest talking points of the night, as actor-comedian
Yogi Babu left an impact with his heartfelt and humorous speech he delivered during the 'Moon Walk' event on Sunday. In his unique tone and style, Yogi Babu disclosed a shocking fact about his character in the movie. He shared that he is portraying not one or two but a total of 16 characters, bringing in loud cheers from the crowd and big question marks on the faces of the audience.
Yogi Babu plays 16 roles in 'Moon Walk'
Recalling his initial introduction to the project, Yogi Babu said that the story was pitched to him by director Manoj in an informal setting at his place. Going in to discuss one character, the actor was surprised to see the ambitious scale of the film. “I thought he was going to discuss one character, and that was it, and he just kept going,” laughed Yogi Babu, adding that each of the 16 roles was well-crafted. What convinced him fully, he noted, was the relatability of every character. “Nothing felt forced or difficult. Each role felt familiar, like people we see around us every day,” he explained, stressing that the writing left him with no reason to turn the film down.
A lifetime collaboration
Yogi Babu also used the platform to express heartfelt gratitude to the creative forces behind 'Moon Walk.' He fondly spoke about director Manoj’s positive energy on set, calling his ever-present smile the most memorable aspect of the shoot. He went on to describe working with Prabhu Deva and AR Rahman as a rare privilege. Referring to them as “prodigies who have been together since their early days,” Yogi Babu said being part of a film that brings them together again after 25 years felt special. He added that performing in a project scored by AR Rahman was a milestone moment in his career.
'Moon Walk' gains buzz
The film has already piqued interest, with the makers previously unveiling two of Yogi Babu’s character names, Kavarimaan Narayanan and Aattukkaal Azhagu Rasa, hinting at the variety audiences can expect. With a cast that includes Prabhu Deva, AR Rahman, Aju Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Singampuli, Redin Kingsley, and many more, 'Moon Walk' combines dance, music, and comedy. Supported by industry veterans and scheduled for a summer 2026 release, Yogi Babu's speech has generated buzz for this unique film.
