Actor Prashant Narayanan, the serial killer in Murder 2, has been signed on for a prominent role in director Sibi Malayil's nextThe image of the straight man-turned-eunuch-turned serial killer in Murder 2 won't vanish easily from our minds. Dheeraj Pandey was for sure a turning point in the career of Malayali actor Prashant Narayanan, who is now set to step into Malayalam with Sibi Malayil's Unnam.Back to his roots, Prashant, who has been doing the rounds in Bollywood, plays a baddie in this one, too.
"In Unnam, I play a club owner who is into nefarious deals to make quick money," says Prashant. "The makers were looking for a new villain and they zeroed in on me." Prashant is excited about his entry into M-town. "Although I had contacts here, too many things were happening for me in Bollywood. I guess the time for my Malayalam entry was destined to be now," says Prashant, who has to his credit a string of films including German director Florian Gallenberger's Shadows of Time, Instant Karma, Peter Gaya Kaam Se, Bhindi Bazaar and The White Elephant besides others.
Prashant is now dubbing for his part in Unnam. "I grew up in Delhi; so my Malayalam isn't all that good." Ask him what difference he spotted between Bollywood ventures and his debut Malayalam flick and Prashant says, "Well, amenities-wise, Bollywood is bigger. Plus, the stars are a pampered lot there. What appeals about Malayalam films are their interesting scripts."Talks are on for more films in Malayalam. But for now, he will talk only about his next confirmed project, Issaq, the shoot of which will begin soon in Benaras. "The Manish Tiwary directorial is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Mine is the only character that is not part of the original. I play a Malayali student leader who is a Naxalite as well." Sounds interesting for sure!
