Mithra's set to take the industry by storm
She might have had only a small character to play in Kaavalan, but pretty Mithra Kurian maintains that it was a dream debut. Reprising her role from the Malayalam original Bodyguard might have seemed like an easy task, but she considered it as a fresh new character.
Yes, I have done the same role in Malayalam. However, I was completely new to the industry at that time.

But when director Siddique approached me for the role in Tamil, I wasnt a fresher anymore. I had some experience as an actress. Also, it gave me an opportunity to bring new dimensions to my character. So if you see the original Sethulakshmi (in Bodyguard) and Madhu (in Kaavalan), there is a stark difference, she explains.
The Tamil audience, she says, have been very supportive. My character had shades of grey in it. It was a well-etched role and worked in Malayalam. But I was apprehensive about the audience in Tamil Nadu. It was such a great feeling and a surprising one at that when everyone told me that I did better in Tamil. The thing about this industry is that people recognize talent. And, they are so supportive, she says.
The actress, who will next be seen along with Vikram and Deeksha in Suseenthirans yet-to-be-titled venture, is all set to take the industry by storm. Talking about the film, Mithra clarifies that she is not just another supporting character. It is very much that of a lead and I am looking forward to shooting as soon as elections are over. I play a modern girl in the film, she says.
Language has never been a problem for Mithra, who has grown up on a staple diet of Tamil films. I taught myself the language. I understand Tamil perfectly and I can speak it to a certain extent. Moreover, cinema is my passion. I have always loved the magic of movies and the whole song-and-dance routine. I am here to stay, she signs off.
