Adding to the list of social work Metro Shirish has done, the actor has now helped two silambam champions of Tamil Nadu for their international championships.
Says Shirish, “I learnt about the kids through a mutual friend. He told me that they are very talented and sent me their profiles, too. However, they are unable to fund the upcoming The Youth Games International Championship, which will be held in Nepal in the second week of February.
So, I decided to take up their travel and stay expenses as well.”
The two kids — Nancy Esther, who is in class 11, and Abishega Rajan, who is class eight, have won several district, state, and national-level silambam championships.
“Their names have been mentioned in world record books, too. They came home recently and even showed me their silambam skills. It was heartening to see the kind of passion they had for the sport and the vigour to win the championship. I am able to do these things now, and I will definitely help those who are deserving and talented,” says Shirish, who himself has a lot of interest in silambam.
