Last year in November, Canada-based magician
Raman Sharma had alleged that Thenandal Films, the production house behind
Vijay’s Mersal, had not payed him in full for the work he did on the film. In the film, one of Vijay’s characters is that of a magician, and Raman had trained the actor for a few tricks he performs in the film. Now, the magician seems to have filed a legal law suit against the production house.
Raman had then said that there is over `4 lakh that he is owed by the production house, including the legal fees that he has had to pay to get his legal representatives to reach out to them. In a recent post, Raman has said that he had to come down to Chennai from Canada in April 2019 to hire a lawyer and has now filed a lawsuit. He also seems to have met Thalapathy Vijay and director Atlee on the sets of 'Bigi', but hadn't spoken about this issue with them since he felt it was not necessary to talk about it to them. He further went on to state that he met a few others on the sets of the film who had also worked in 'Mersal' and learnt that they too hadn't been paid in full.
After mentioning that a few people that told him that the makers of Mersal haven't been doing well financially well after the film, he went on to show a post by Thenandal Films' Hema Rukmani's recent social media post of a picture of herself with a Louis Vuition shopping bag and captioning it, "Whoever said money cant buy happiness, simply didn't know where to go shopping."
