Rajiv Menon revisited one of the most iconic locations of their film, ‘Bombay’, that is the Bekal Fort in Kerala. The visit came just months after the film completed 30 years.
Back where ‘Uyire Uyire’ was filmed
As seen in the video shared by the Instagram page of Bekal Beach Park, the three were seen revisiting the fort where the unforgettable song ‘Uriye Uriye’ composed by musical geniuses AR Rahman, was filmed. It shows Mani Ratnam, Manisha and Rajiv Menon taking a walk through the historic site and recalling memories about the shoot.

In the post, the ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ director is seen calling the weather “beautiful monsoon” with the vast ocean in the background, which naturally created the mood needed for the song. He said, “It was a beautiful monsoon, the sea was wild and it just gave the mood for the song. It's the crucial part of the film and it get’s indentified by the song. So I am very happy to be here.”
The actor Manisha Koirala also said, I am very, very impressed the one is has been organized, wheras the Rajiv Menon is seen stating, “The film is lives in people’s mind becuase of the location of Bekal.”
Kerala’s Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas and MLA CH Kunhambu accompanied them during their visit to the Kasaragod landmark. Speaking about the occasion, Mohammed Riyas said that even decades later, film locations continue to hold a special place in people’s hearts.
About ‘Bombay’
‘Bombay’ was released in 1995, which stars Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala, where Arvind’s character Shekar is seen as a Hindu journalist coming from a conservative family. He feels for a Muslim girl, Shaila, from a coastal village. The film is said to be one of the celebrated works of Rani Ratnam.
