Sadhana in lead roles, is all set for a theatrical release on February 1. A special screening of the movie was held at Kochi on Sunday where several Mollywood filmmakers and artistes had attended. Speaking on the occasion, Mammootty opened about how he landed a Tamil project after a decade and how he could relate to the film’s subject.
He said, “It is true that Ram had expressed his desire to direct me long ago. Many asked me why I said “yes” to Ram when he approached me. In fact, I should be thankful to several Malayalam filmmakers for what I’m today. Ram didn’t offer me this story when I was a loser wandering on streets. He came to me because of my experience – and I am indebted to many directors for gaining that know-how on movies.”
He went on to add that many who watched the film were in tears, but that doesn’t mean it is a depressing one. “The movie is all about extreme love, and hence, everyone can connect to it easily. Peranbu is about the bonding between a father and his specially-abled daughter. I used to wonder what would I do if I had a differently-abled daughter. That made me connect to the story and that is how I said okay to the project,” Mammootty added.
