Mamitha Baiju REVEALS whether ‘Jana Nayagan’ will be Vijay's final film: ‘He said it depends on…’

As speculation grows around 'Jana Nayagan' being Thalapathy Vijay’s final film before stepping into full-time politics, co-star Mamitha Baiju has shed new light on the actor’s future in cinema.



During a recent interaction at the Kerala Carnival in Ireland, Mamitha Baiju revealed her emotional exchange with Vijay during the shoot of their upcoming film, scheduled to release on January 9, 2026.

Speaking about a moment from the sets of 'Jana Nayagan', Mamitha Baiju shared, “I just asked him whether 'Jana Nayagan' would truly be his last outing. Vijay sir responded by saying that it all depends on how elections go. He also said that we’ll see what happens.”



The superstar, who recently announced his political entry with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party, has yet to make a definitive call on his acting career.

Mamitha also described the emotional atmosphere during the final days of filming. “Including Vijay sir, everyone got emotional. On the last day, he was so moved that he couldn’t even pose for pictures with the cast and crew,” she said.


About 'Jana Nayagan'



Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is billed as a political action drama, with Vijay reportedly playing a powerful police officer. On the last day, during the superstar's birthday, the makers of 'Jana Nayagan' unveiled the first glimpse from the most-awaited movie, featuring Vijay as a stylish and 'Massy' cop. The glimpse was titled 'First Roar' and received good responses from the audiences.


On the other hand, Vijay was last seen in the actioner 'GOAT' which failed to impress the audiences, even though it did decent box office business. Vijay also teamed up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for the action flick 'Leo' which received good reviews from the audiences.
