Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam thriller, Drishyam has been in the news since the film will be reportedly remade in three languages ��� Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Similarly, many Malayalam movies were remade in Tamil last year too. Times of India lists out a few remakes that are in the pipeline and are expected to hit theatres this year...
Drishyam
This Malayalam drama-thriller, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, had Mohanlal and Meena in the lead. While Mohanlal plays a Class IV dropout in the movie, Meena, his wife, has studied till Class X. The movie is about a man���s struggle to prevent his family from falling apart after an untoward incident. With this Kollywood remake of the movie, which will have Ulaganayan Kamal Haasan in the lead, Jeethu Joseph makes his Tamil directorial debut.
Salt and Pepper
This 2011 Malayalam romantic comedy, directed by Aashiq Abu, stars Lal, Asif Ali, Shweta Menon and Mythili in lead roles. The movie traces the love stories of two couples, with food playing a vital role in the scheme of things. In the Tamil version that is titled Un Samayal Arayil, Sneha and Prakash Raj will essay the roles of Shwetha Menon and Lal respectively.
Ustad Hotel
Anwar Rasheed���s Ustad Hotel had Dulquer Salmaan, Thilakan and Nithya Menen in the lead. The film is about a young man, Faizal (Dulquer Salmaan), who studies in Switzerland to become a chef against his rich father���s wishes and finally joins his grandfather Karim (Thilakan) who works as a cook. Vikram Prabhu has been roped in to play the lead in the Tamil version.

Cocktail
Directed by Arun Kumar, this 2010 film had Jayasurya, Anoop Menon, Samvrutha Sunil playing prominent roles. Ravi Abraham (Anoop Menon) leads a successful professional and personal life. One morning, he and his wife Parvathy (Samvrutha Sunil), run into a series of problems after they give a stranger named Venkitesh (Jayasurya), a lift in their car. The secret plans made by Venkitesh unveil by the end of the day. In Kollywood, Engaeyum Eppothum girl Ananya will play the role portrayed by Samvrutha Sunil. Newcomers Seenu and Nikeshram will also be playing the lead roles in this remake that���s being helmed by Bharathan.
Beautiful
This revolves around the intense bonding between Stephen Louis (Jayasurya), a quadriplegic, and John (Anoop Menon), a musician. Though Stephen has lived his entire life on a wheel chair, he believes in celebrating every moment of life. The remake rights for the film in Tamil have been bagged by actor Mohan and the movie will be directed by VK Prasad, who directed the original version.
