Sixteen-year-old Prajna is all set to essay a meaty role in Balaji Shakthivel��s upcoming film....

It was at a time when heroines were not getting meaty roles that director Balaji Shakthivel picked Sandhya for Kaadhal.
The movie, as straight from the heart as it gets, went on to become a superhit and Sandhya��s Kollywood career shot up.
It was at a time when heroines were choosing the glam route to fame that the same filmmaker picked Tamannaah to play a plain-Jane character in Kalloori.
The role gave her two things �� critical acclaim and the right impetus to blossom as a commercially-viable heroine. And now, the director has chosen a 16-year-old girl called Prajna to do a powerful character in his forthcoming flick Vazhaku En 18/7. Quite understandably, she��s thrilled about it.

��It��s an award-winning character,�� says Prajna, who has done a couple of Kannada films like Ganesha Mathe Banda and Preethse Preethse. ��The story revolves around the lead male, who falls in love with the maid,�� she explains. And what is she doing in the movie? ��I��m the maid,�� she says cheekily, ��I��m thrilled to play a maid!�� That, despite the fact that the movie also features a female character who is ��cool and happening��. So, what made Prajna chose this character? ��It��s a director��s film and the characterisation of the maid was brilliant in the narration itself,�� she explains.

It��s the natural manner in which Balaji makes his films that has attracted Prajna to pack her bags to K-town, where she��ll be shooting come August. ��I��m looking forward to acting in Kollywood,�� she says with pride. The young lass will be sharing screen space with a host of newcomers in this film.
So, what��s next? ��I��ve got a couple of offers from Tamil filmmakers but I want to take some time to decide,�� she says, ��The response that Vazhaku... gets will determine the extent of my stint here.��
Is the fact that she��s just 16 (she recently wrote her class 10 exams) a dampener? ��No, not at all,�� she squeals, ��It��s a huge advantage, in fact. Everybody on the sets treats me like a child and makes sure that I��m comfortable. That makes me feel really special!��
There��s another reason that Prajna��s heart is slowly drifting towards Kodambakkam, and that��s because of the presence of several heroes that she loves watching on screen.
��Vikram, Vijay and Suriya... they are all too good. I��m waiting for the day when I��ll get a chance to act with them. That will be a like a dream come true.��
