Director Venkata Krishna Roghanth, who has started shooting his romantic musical, referred to as #VSP33, with Vijay Sethupathi and Amala Paul, has cast Magizh Thirumeni, the director of films like Thadaiyara Thaakka and Thadam, as the antagonist in his film. This will mark the acting debut of Magizh Thirumeni, who had previously lent his voice for the antagonist’s character played by Anurag Kashyap in last year’s Imaikkaa Nodigal.

“I hadn’t met Magizh Thirumeni at the time of casting discussions. I knew he had dubbed for Anurag Kashyap and I wanted someone who had a voice like his. And then, I thought I should cast him in the role rather than look for someone else,” says Roghanth on how he chose the director to act in his film.

Quiz him on how Magizh Thirumeni had responded to his request and he says, “When Magizh and I met, he asked me if I was confident that he would be able to pull off the role. I told him I trusted his voice and his eyes, and he agreed to be part of the project.”

Magizh Thirumeni will be essaying the role of a police official, and has started shooting for the film, he reveals. The team is currently shooting a stunt sequence in Palani, and will be moving to Ooty in a couple of days for a longer schedule.
