Amala Paul had wanted a stay restraining her estranged fiance, Mumbai-based singer
Bhavninder Singh
, from sharing pictures of the two in the public domain. Now the
Madras High Court has ruled in Amala's favour.
It all began earlier this year when there was a buzz that actress Amala Paul had secretly married her rumoured boyfriend Bhavninder Singh in a private ceremony. Pictures of the actress with her estranged fiancé had found its way online and had gone viral. While some claimed that the pictures were from Amala's
engagement
, a few others claimed that the actress had gotten married to the Mumbai-based singer.
The duo, according to sources close to Amala, had actually parted ways post the engagement. Amala also alleged that Bhavninder was threatening to leak more pictures of the two of them together in the public domain. She then moved court saying that the pictures were taken during their engagement but were misrepresented as that of their wedding. She demanded a stay on using the pictures and had sought permission to sue Bhavninder Singh. The Madras High Court then granted leave to Amala Paul to file a
defamation suit
against Singh for uploading pictures of their engagement on social media, and claiming it to be photos of their wedding ceremony. Amala had also wanted a stay restraining him from sharing pictures of the two in the public domain.
