Actress Madhoo or otherwise known as Madhoobala has acted in Tamil films 'Roja', 'Gentleman' and she recently made her comeback in Kollywood with the web series 'Sweet Kaaram Coffee'.
The actress in a recent media interview for a YouTube channel said that recalls working with
Mani Ratnam for 'Roja'. She added that she initially did not credit Mani Ratnam for the role as she felt that it was just a character he created and it suited her to play the role.
She then went on to say how people amidst all her films that she did, even in other languages, only remembered her for her role in 'Roja' even after decades. Madhoo also said that it is one film of hers that people still talk about and she considers it a god's gift.
'Roja' is a patriotic drama that involves a romance shared between an Indian army doctor and his wife. Starring Madhoo and
Arvind Swamy in lead roles, the film was released in 1992 and it was the birth of music composer AR Rahman's career in the film industry.
Replying to the question why she did not work with Mani Ratnam after that, Madhoo said that she refused to give credit to her roles and said that it was her mistake because of her attitude. She explained that the veteran director has a bond with every artist and said that she did not keep in touch with him much and that's the reason after 'Iruvar', she did not get to work with him.
