Madhavan who has been keeping himself busy by spreading awareness about the coronavirus recently took part in a Q&A session with off-spinner Ravichandran
Ashwin. The duo spoke about several films Madhavan has been part of, the film industry and how he plays a character. He also spoke about the experience of shooting for Alaipayuthey.
Madhavan speaking about the experience of working in Alaipayuthey said, ‘It felt like a cricketer playing his first match in a World Cup semi- final.
Can you imagine that pressure? Because it was my first movie as a hero. I know acting, but I have never acted in a film. The director is
Mani Ratnam, cameraman is PC Sreeram, music director is AR Rahman, heroine is
Shalini and there is Thota Dharani, all are legends in the crew. I could have looked at it in two ways, one is what am I going to do? Or my mind has lovely ways of playing tricks with me so it told me, look if the film does not do well even after having so many legends, no one is going to blame you, that’s not going to happen. I didn’t have any fear, I completely forget it was my first film, who I am acting with and other things. I just had to do my job and it was a lovely experience because I just had to be myself. People tell Mani sir gets angry and all that, but he was never like that according to me. He just let me be Maddy. For me, it was a brilliant experience.’
