Dhilip Kumar, who made the well-received short film Kalki, is now all set to make his feature film debut. He has roped in

Madhavan

and

Shraddha

Srinath for a romantic drama, titled Maara.

“After a very long time, Madhavan is acting in a pure romance drama. He has done the Tanu Weds Manu films in Hindi, but in those, he had to act passive. This one will be a very charming character,” begins Dhilip, who adds that it was not a conscious decision to repeat the Vikram Vedha pair of Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath. “Actually, we were considering if we have to cast the same pair. But their romantic track was only a part of that film, and we are not banking on that anyway. Mainly, the female protagonist’s character has got a lot to do with how Shraddha is in real life. It’s a character that is mature, and Madhavan’s is also in the same vein,” he reveals and adds, “The story is essentially between these two people who have a mature outlook and how their love story is strung together by the simple things in life.”

While Dhilip has written the main script, the additional screenplay has been written by Bipin. The dialogues are by Neelan, who has worked on Arindhum Ariyamalum and Pattiyal, and has written the Samantha segment in Thiagarajan Kumaraja’s upcoming anthology Super Deluxe.

The director says that music and art direction will be the backbone of the film. He has roped in Ghibran as the music director and Ajayan Chalissery, who has done the art direction for

Malayalam

films like Maheshinte Prathikaram and Parava, will be making his debut as the production designer. Deepak Bhagawan, who has done a Telugu film with director Teja, is doing the cinematography while Arima Nambi’s Bhuvan Srinivasan will be the editor.
