Maanasi's plot revolves around a man and his goat

After having worked in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries for over 15 years, and assisting directors like Fazil,

is making his directorial debut with

Maanasi

, a romantic thriller. “The film is about a goatherd and the love he shares with his goat. They are so fond of each other and the goat can understand what he says. But then, the goat is taken to be sacrificed, and what happens next forms the plot,” says the director, who has shot the film in places like Theni, Cumbum, and in the forests where Mynaa and Kumki were shot.

“There is also a sub-lot involving the romance between the hero and the heroine, who is from the neighbouring village. Naresh Madesh, a product of Koothu-p-pattarai who has been acting for 18 years in minor roles, is playing the male lead, while Harissa Begum, who has acted in a few Malayalam films, plays the heroine,” informs Nawaz.

The four songs in the film have been composed by Shivaram while

Prakash Alex

, the chief programmer of noted Malayalam composer Gopi Sunder, who has worked on films like Thozha, has composed the background score.
