Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, who had come to a conclusion as ‘Coolie’ was about to hit the cinema halls, and the idea of making a movie with the two legendary actors was floated. As per The Hindu, Lokesh Kanagaraj felt privileged, as he had received the proposal to direct the film. Therefore, he wrote a script and met up with the two actors where he narrated the script to both of them, and they eventually liked the idea presented to them.

However, since Rajinikanth is the main character in different action movies, as well as Kamal Haasan, wants something different. According to Lokesh Kanagaraj, this is not something that he thinks he is capable of; hence, he would rather take the high road and be honest than try to fathom something that is out of his element.
Commitments and the future of the LCU
Lokesh Kanagaraj also made a remark about his long-time professional obligations to a production house that had given him an advance almost six years ago. Fulfillment of the obligations got him Allu Arjun's project next. Clearing the air about the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) ending, he otherwise clarified the baseless claims. Lokesh Kanagaraj then confirmed his lineup as 'Kaithi 2,' 'Vikram 2,' and 'Rolex' are the forthcoming films of the director. He plans to resume business on the LCU after the completion of Allu Arjun's film.
