Our lives are less stressful nowI think our pets have had a really interesting time because we’ve been home for so many months together. They are probably wondering why we’ve not stepped out at all, and I wonder how they will feel when we resume our life now. The youngest of our four pets, Bobby, has gotten too used to having us at home and that is not a good thing (laughs). As for us, they’ve made our lives happier and less stressful.

If not for Star, I don’t know how I would have gone through thisI was supposed to adopt a hybrid, Style, but his parents decided to stay back in India owing to the situation. My parents, too, left for the UAE before the pandemic. I was feeling too lonely, and brought home Star, a Shih Tzu. He was 30 days old when I got him home. If not for him, I don’t know how I would have gone through this. He brought me so much happiness.

Rudra was like my shadowIt was a difficult time for most of us; we couldn’t even meet anyone in these months. But having Rudra at home changed things for me. We were living at our beach house for a while, and from feeding him to running on the beach with him, I spent a lot of time time with Rudra. He has become too attached to me. He follows me like a shadow. Now that I’ve started stepping out, we are missing each other badly.

We are blessed to have Coco at this timeIn these six-odd months of staying at home, Coco has become more used to us. She’s gotten more possessive of Mahat as well. We are truly blessed to have her at this time. Whenever we get stressed thinking about the pandemic, we give her a tight hug. I feel she takes away all our stress. Staying indoors all the time isn't always a great thing for us humans because half the time, we end up arguing with others at home. But Coco will do something naughty and distract us.

Hero has changed my lifeBefore the lockdown, my Milo had passed away. I was fostering my friend’s dog, a Beagle, after that. Even though it eased my mind, I knew I couldn’t get emotionally attached. In June, we welcomed Hero, a German Shepherd. He is four and a half months now, and he has changed my life. We play a lot, and I take him for walks every day. I am also training him now. In return, he brings me gifts and drops them right outside my door!

During isolation, I was thankful I had Auro with meDespite being at home all the time, Auro knew our schedules and never troubled us while Shweta (Prachande) and I were working. However, when I fell ill, I decided to self-quarantine in my room. Auro used to wait at the door throughout the day. So, I asked my doctor if he could stay with me in my room and he said it was safe for both him and me. During periods of isolation, I was thankful to have Auro with me. It could have gotten crazy for me, but he made all the difference.

Tequila was my movie companionBeing at home constantly can get annoying at times, but with Tequila, it was fun. She was my movie companion, and we played a lot together. With the pandemic scare, we were nervous to take her out for walks. She loves bike rides, but we couldn’t do that for a really long time. Recently, we’ve started going for walks within our locality and she is also happy that she could go on bikes a few times.
