Director turned distributor Lingusamy said that he will not knock Mani Ratnam���s door and ask him about the compensation for the losses suffered releasing Kadal. Thirupathi Brothers distributed Kadal in 3 areas in Tamilnadu.

The director cum producer had said that it is a business and success and failure are part of it and the the ace director Mani sir is his Guru. Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers had purchased the theatrical rights of Kadal for Chennai city, Coimbatore and Madurai for a whopping amount.
Kadal starring Thulasi, younger daughter of yesteryear actress Radha and Gautham Karthik, son of yesteryear actor Karthik released recently and flopped at the box office.
The film was released on February 1, but a few days later distributors said they couldn't recover their investment. They also started demanding refund of their investments from Mani Ratnam, whose office issued a clarification stating that his production company Madras Talkies had sold all rights of the film on March 9 last year itself.
