Thalapathy Vijay has delivered his next film titled 'Leo', and the film has hit the big screens today (Oct 19). Releasing in multiple languages, 'Leo' has been off to a splendid start at the box office, and the film FDFS kick started earlier on the day with special morning shows. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Leo' marks the reunion of the director with Vijay, and the film is set to clock a record number on the opening day. Vijay's family entertainer was released for Pongal 2023, and it clashed with Ajith's 'Thunivu' at the box office. 'Varisu' had special morning shows in the state, and the film was released in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. 'Varisu' earned around Rs 35 crore worldwide on day 1, while the film grossed around Rs 18 crore in Tamil Nadu.

'Beast', Vijay's film with director Nelson Dilipkumar, was released on the occasion of the 2022 Tamil New Year, and the film faced 'KGF 2' at the box office. But the film was released a day ahead of 'KGF 2', and it made the film occupy more screens on day 1. 'Beast' earned around Rs 85 crore on the opening day, and the film had a splendid start at the box office. But the mixed reviews for the film made it drop at the box office.

Due to the pandemic outbreak in 2020, the release of 'Master' was pushed to 2021 Pongal, and the makers waited long for the theatres to resume operation. But Vijay's film with Lokesh Kanagaraj was released with 50% occupancy in India, and the film didn't release in several overseas locations due to the pandemic threat. However, the much-awaited action drama managed to earn close to Rs 40 crore worldwide on day 1.

Vijay joined hands with director Atlee for the third time for the football drama 'Bigil', and he played a dual role as a father and son. The highly anticipated film was released on the occasion of 2019 Diwali, and it occupied a wide number of screens. 'Bigil' had grossed close to Rs 58 crore worldwide on day 1, and it emerged as the highest-opening day grosser of 2019 by beating Rajinikanth's 'Petta'.

Vijay's third union with director AR Murgadoss, 'Sarkar' was released for the 2018 Diwali, and the film had a tremendous opening. 'Sarkar' grossed close to Rs 70 crore worldwide on the opening day, and it was the biggest opening for actor Vijay. AR Murugadoss's directorial had a final box office collection of over Rs 250 crore, and the film had a successful theatrical run despite mixed reviews.
