Actress Lakshmi, who shot to fame after her performance as a mother livid with rage after losing her daughter in Yuddham Sei, is ready to direct her first feature film. Despite having shot several short films and winning awards for the same earlier, Lakshmi is quite excited about her new role. I was supposed to direct a film based on a real life incident early this year.
I had the cast and crew ready, but due to my family and work commitments, I had to push the project. Also, the script of the film is very intense and I decided it would be better if another well-established director took over the reigns from me, she says and adds, Now, Im ready to do a relatively small film, which will be screened both in theatres and at festivals.
The film, which will go on floors on December 1 in Chennai, is about a mentallychallenged boy. The film has nothing to do with Deiva Thiirumagal, she quickly clarifies, Its a very positive film and will be a roller-coaster ride for both the protagonist and the audience.
While the films stars two debutants in the lead,
Sampath, Jayaprakash (of Naan Mahaan Alla fame),
Viji,
Raji and Uma Padmanabhan will be making special appearances. The camera will be handled by
Shanmugasundaram, who did Rowthiram earlier, and K (of Yuddham Sei fame) will compose the music. We have approached Kishore to do the editing, she informs.
Meanwhile, Lakshmi is basking in the appreciation shes been receiving for her Telugu film, Oh My Fiend (OMF). What Poi Solla Porom did for me in Kollywood, OMF has done in Tollywood, she smiles.
