Director Prabu Solomon’s latest movie, 'Kumki 2,' is all set to arrive on OTT platforms after a successful run of more than a month on screens. Soon, the movie will become available on the streaming platform Prime Video on 3 January 2026. Even if the movie didn’t do well enough when it was aired, animal-based, emotional movies wow lots of people. So, the OTT release can make this movie reach a wider audience.
'Kumki 2' received mixed responses in theaters.
Hitting the theaters on November 14, ‘Kumki 2’ received mixed and negative reviews from critics and viewers alike. However, this man-animal (elephant) conflict film will get a second life on OTT. Family audiences and nature lovers will likely appreciate the movie more in a home setting. The movie’s Prime Video release comes across as crucial for the film, especially for audiences that could not catch it when it was in cinemas, as well as those looking to catch it on a second viewing.
The Story of Mathi and his Elephant
The sequel comes after 13 years and stars Mathi and Shrrita Rao. The story focuses on Mathi and his relationship with Jumbo(Elephant). He does everything to rescue Jumbo, but he meets with an unexpected obstacle. The antagonist of the movie is Arjun Das, which adds to the movie's appeal for the viewer. The film stars Andrews, Akash, Harish Peradi, and Srinath.
Will 'Kumki 2' get a new life on OTT?
On the technical front, music is given by Nivas K. Prasanna, lyrics by Prabu Solomon and Mohan Rajan, and cinematography by M. Sukumar. Art direction is handled by Vijay Thennarasu. All these would have brought their much-needed visual creativity to the film. Now it remains to be seen whether ‘Kumki 2’ finds a better audience in its digital premiere, which is on Prime Video and is scheduled for January 3, 2026.
