'Kodi' to 'Bigil': Latest five Tamil blockbusters released during Diwali

There will be many big releases during big festivals, especially there will be a release from several popular stars for Diwali. Fans also enjoy the films of favorite stars on big screens during the grand festival. But this year the pandemic attack has affected the release of new films, and this has saddened the cinema lovers in a big way. So, let's take a look at five Tamil blockbusters that released during Diwali.

'Kodi' - 2016

After producing a couple of films directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, Dhanush joined with the director for 'Kodi'. He played a dual role for the first time in his career in the film as twin brothers. The highly anticipated film was released for 2016 Diwali, and fans enjoyed Dhanush's dual-action avatar well. Trisha and Anupama Parameswaran played as the female leads, while the music was scored by Santhosh Narayanan.

'Mersal' - 2017

Vijay collaborated with Atlee for the second time for 'Mersal' after their blockbuster first outing 'Theri'. Vijay played a triple role as father and his sons and displayed three different characters. Atlee's classic masala entertainer turned out a great hit at the box office, and he emerged as a top director in Tamil cinema. Nithya Menon, Samantha, and Kajal Aggarwal played as the female leads, while Nithya Menon bagged the Filmfare Award for her lovable role.

'Sarkar' - 2018

After the blockbuster hits of 'Thuppakki' and 'Kaththi', Vijay and AR Murgadoss teamed up for the third time for 'Sarkar', and they again presented a Diwali treat for the fans. Vijay played the role of a young fighter who wishes to create a good society for the welfare of the people. Keerthy Suresh played the role of Vijay's love interest, and the film music was composed by AR Rahman.

'Kaithi' - 2019

Karthi is the one actor who never fails to impress the fans with his story selection. The promising actor joined hands with young director Lokesh Kanagaraj for 'Kaithi', and the one night action drama was released last Diwali. 'Kaithi' clashed with Vijay's 'Bigil' at the box office, and the film performed well to gross good numbers. Narain, Harish Uthaman, Arjun Das have played crucial roles, while the music was scored by Sam CS.

'Bigil' - 2019

The expectations were high between the fans when Vijay teamed up with Atlee for the third time. Different from their previous outings, this time they came up with a sports drama, and the film was released last Diwali. Fans who waited a year to witness their favorite star back on big screens celebrated the film highly. Vijay played the dual role as a father and son, and his character as Rayappan received good reviews.
