'Kochadaiiyaan' producer Murali Manohar sentenced to 6 months in jail

Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, Kochadaiiyaan was released in theatres in 2016. Starring Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, the movie was made in 3D. The local court of Chennai under the Negotiable Instruments Act has convicted producer Murali Manohar as he failed to make a payment of Rs 5crore to a private organisation that made the animation of the film.

Starring Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, Kochadaiiyaan was released in 2016 in 3D. The movie was directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth and was produced by Sunil Lulla, Sunanda Murali Manohar and Prashita Chaudhary. A couple of months back, a petition was filed against Murali Manohar who had invested in the post-production work of the film. The petition was about the alleged payment issues as the cheque issued was bounced.
Reportedly, Murali Manohar had promised a 20% rights and 12 % commission to a private company that worked on the post production and animation of the film.

However, as per reports, the cheque issued by Manohar in 2014 for a sum of Rs 5 crore had bounced and a case was filed at a local court in Chennai to charge against the producer under the Negotiable Instruments act. The trial court has now convicted Murali Manohar and has ordered for an imprisonment for six months in jail.
The film was written by KS Ravikumar and the film's story was about the Indian emperor Kochadaiiyaan Ranadhiran of the 8th century. The cast of the film included Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone, Nagesh, R Sarathkumar, Aadhi Pinisetty, Jackie Shroff, Nassar, and Rukmini Vijayakumar. The music for the film was composed by AR Rahman.
