Producer-director Keyaar has suggested that the National Award for Best Singer to named after singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. The producer said that the singer's demise has left an irreplaceable loss in the film industry.
He said, "I am yet to get back to my normal self ever since I heard of SPB's demise. His death has pained me to such an extent. SPB sir's demise has left an irreplacable void in the film industry.

That's because his achievements in the last 50 years in the industry, is unsurpassable. He has won the National award six times and was honoured with the Padma Bhushan. As long as music exists in the world, SPB will remain with us. To celebrate his feat, I suggest that the National Award for Best Singer be named after SPB. If we do that, his name would last generations. This is not only my opinion but that of the entire film industry."
SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on Friday and his mortal remains were cremated with state honours on Saturday.
