‘Keni’ trailer: Jaya Prada, Anu Haasan take on water issue

Issue-based films are the current trend in Tamil cinema, especially after the success of films like ‘Joker’ and ‘Aramm’. Now, the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual ‘Keni’ is gearing up for a release. Going by the trailer of the film, ‘Keni’ takes the rampant water scarcity issue between the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Set in Thenkasi, the film talks about the day-to-day lives of people and their fight for water.Veteran actress Jaya Prada is making her comeback in Tamil cinema after a long gap. In an interview, Jaya Prada stated that she wanted to take up the water scarcity issue.
‘Keni’ is directed by Naushad and stars veteran actors Anu Haasan, Nasser, Revathi, Rekha and Parthiepan in the lead roles. The film previously made headlines after a song ‘Ayya Sami’ hit the internet. It marked the reunion of singers SP Balasubramaniam and KJ Yesudas after a very long time.
