Even as he continues to play integral roles in films starring other heroes,
Karthik will soon be seen in a film that he headlines. Titled Thee Ivan, the movie is billed as a wholesome entertainer and has Karthik playing the lead.

, who has helmed films like Roja Malare and Adada Enna Azhagu in the past, is directing the film. He says, “Karthik plays a righteous man, someone who believes that it’s better to lose life than lose one’s honour. The film deals with the various problems that crop in society. Traditional practices are slowly losing their value in today’s time and that is giving rise to several issues. Karthik’s character doesn’t compromise on traditional values and honour, and faces all the problems like a fire. Theemaiyai azhikka koodiya thee avan. Hence, the
title!”
So, was Karthik his first choice for the role? “As I said earlier, the story will focus on Tamil culture, and valour is also an important aspect. When I was thinking who would be apt for the role, I thought that after
Kamal Haasan, only Karthik can pull off something like this. So, I met him for a narration and he liked the film’s thread. He immediately gave his nod for the project,” he says, adding, “He has about four action scenes in the film and has done a fabulous job.”Sukanya, who has earlier acted with Karthik in Chinna Jameen and
Seeman, is paired opposite him in this film as well. Sethu Abitha,
Aishwarya Lakshmi, Artthika,
John Vijay, Singampuli, Ilavarasu and director Saravana Sakthi, among others, are also part of the film. Jayamurugan is composing the score as well and YN Murali is handling the cinematography.“We have completed about 70 per cent of the shoot and will be heading for the next schedule by the end of this week. We have been shooting in Tiruppur, Pollachi and Chennai, and will be heading to Ooty and
Mumbai as well to do a few portions,” he signs off.
