Karthik Kumar responds to ex-wife Suchitra's allegations about his sexuality: 'I wouldn't be ashamed'

Stand-up comedian and actor Karthik Kumar has responded to a recent statement made by his ex-wife, singer Suchitra, in an interview. She allegedly referred to Kartik as gay, prompting the actor-comedian to address it on his Instagram account.

In a recent video, Karthik stated, “If I were homosexual, I wouldn't be ashamed. I would be proud to be any part of the spectrum of sexuality. I would join a pride rally in my city, as I intend to do. All sexualities deserve pride and support. There is no shame, only pride. Be proud.”

Following this video, some of Karthik Kumar’s followers were confused, speculating it as a response to Suchitra's interview. Later, he clarified in another video that his previous statement wasn't about celebrating heterosexuality but embracing all gender identities. He acknowledged the privileges heterosexual individuals like him have compared to the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Responses to his solidarity video varied, with some expressing intentions to unfollow him while others praised his inclusive stance.


Karthik’s wife, Amrutha Srinivasan, reshared the video after Suchitra mentioned her name in the interview. Suchitra, who had stayed out of the public eye following the 'Suchi leaks' controversy, recently resurfaced in an interview for the Tamil YouTube channel Kumudham. During the interview, she made unverified accusations against Karthik Kumar, Dhanush, and Aishwarya Rajinikanth, also claiming that Amurtha made a mistake in marrying Karthik. None of the individuals mentioned have responded to her claims thus far.

Suchitra's latest public appearance was on Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4, where she failed to make a significant impression. Meanwhile, Karthik Kumar recently produced and performed a stand-up special titled ‘Aansplaining.’
