Karthik Kumar is finally smiling

Karthik Kumar is extremely happy with the response to his latest flick Veppam.
Remember the cute NRI doctor, who almost marries Shakti (played by Shalini) in the Mani Ratnam film Alaipaayuthe? Yes, that's Karthik Kumar and yes, he has come a long, long way from that 5-minute appearance in that movie. The theater person and actor is now reveling in the success of his latest film Veppam, which stars Nani, Nithya Menen and Bindu Madhavi alongside him.The film, directed by Anjana Ali Khan, an associate of Gautham Vasudev Menon, was shot in a period of just 46 days.
Says Karthik, "I am very happy with the way the film has shaped up and the kind of response that the film has generated. The narrative of the film is different, and it has worked with the audience to a certain extent. People might wonder in the first half as to what the film is leading to, but then the second half of the film solves itself. It is a role that I have experimented with - something that I have never attempted before. It's a small film, but I am happy is doing well." The actor meanwhile, is all set to sign on his first Malayalam project, later this month.
