‘Kanguva’ box office collections day 14: Suriya’s film only collects Rs 30 lakhs

Suriya and Siva’s recently released period fantasy action film ‘Kanguva’ struggles to even touch Rs 70 crores on day 14.

According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Kanguva’ has collected Rs 68.70 crores in 14 days from India, and on day 14, the movie minted Rs 30 lakhs, as per the website's early estimates.


‘Kanguva’ is also having underwhelming occupancy rates. The movie had an overall occupancy of 11.61 percent in Tamil on Wednesday, November 27. The morning shows stood at 8.09 percent occupancy, afternoon shows stood at 13.23 percent, evening shows stood at 12.10 percent and night shows were at 13.01 percent.


Directed by Siva, ‘Kanguva’ hit the big screens with high expectations. However, the movie failed to impress the audience, mainly due to its underwhelming script. The majority of the audience complained about the loud dialogue in the movie.


ETimes gave 2.5 out of 5 stars for the Suriya starrer and our review reads, “The opening sequence of the present-day Suriya is the trailer for the outdated writing of Kanguva. Yogi Babu hypes up Suriya’s Francis, a bounty hunter, as he jumps out of his shower and attacks a few enemies, and there goes our hero introduction. What follows is a template romance song in Goa and a breakup that’s announced just using TEXTS (a different approach to the “show, don’t tell” format?). We are introduced to so many characters within the first five minutes of Kanguva – including those played by prominent actors like Disha Patani, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, and KS Ravikumar – but disappointingly, we hardly see them for 15 minutes on screen.”
