Does Kanaa have the right mix of entertainment with strong message?

Aishwarya Rajesh’s ‘Kanaa’ is surely one of the most anticipated films of the year, courtesy the film being a sports drama. Of late, most of the films based on sports have hit a chord with the audience. The plot of the film revolves around the daughter of a famer, who aspires to become an international cricketer, so that she can put a smile on her cricket-loving father’s face by helping the country win.Debutant director Arunraja Kamaraj looks to make his first outing a memorable one with this film based on farmers and cricket.
The film which is being produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions, has Sivakarthikeyan playing an extended cameo in it. The trailers and posters give away that the actor will be playing a coach. The trailer shows us Sathyaraj playing farmer and father of Aishwarya Rajesh, who is playing the local girl aspiring to become an international cricketer. The audience are looking forward to an impactful performance mixed with his trademark comedy in the film. Aishwarya Rajesh, as an actor never ceases to surprise her fans with her different character choices and she is hopeful that this character will be liked by the audience.
The songs of the film have certainly reached the audience with ‘Vaayadi Petha Pulla’ sung by Sivakarthikeyan, his daughter and Vaikom Vijayalakshmi becoming a rage. If trailer is anything to go by, this film seems to have a strong message with commercial elements.
