A couple of days ago, we had told you that producer Gnanavelraja has complained against
Kamal Haasan in the Tamil Film Producers Council, alleging that the actor owes his Rs 10 crore that he had borrowed from him during the release of Uttama Villain. While Kamal’s spokesperson had told us that the actor would clarify with the TFPC, on Friday evening, the actor’s production house, which had produced Uttama Villain on a first copy basis for director Lingusamy’s production house issued a statement denying Gnanavel’s charges.
The statement from the production house read, “Raaj Kamal Films vehemently denies all the rumours that are in circulation on Mr Gnanavel Raja having paid Mr Kamal Haasan Rs Ten crores at the time of release of Uttama Villain.
Nothing can be farther from truth and all such allegations are being made by people with vested interests. It is blatantly false and Mr Gnanavel did not pay any money to Mr Kamal Haasan, as being alleged.
Around ten days back Mr J Sathish Kumar who is one of the members of the ad hoc committee of the Producers Council got in touch with our office seeking appointment with Mr Kamal Haasan regarding a letter issued by our office to Tirupathi Brothers Film Media (P) Ltd in furtherance to their request for Mr Kamal Haasan’s date.
Mr Kamal Haasan had agreed to allot his dates for Tirupathi Brothers and had agreed to make himself available for story discussion in the second week of May 2015. In spite of RKFI’s follow up Tirupathi Brothers did not revert on this matter after that.
The news about Gnanavel Raja having paid Mr Kamal Haasan Rs Ten crores towards release of Uttama Villain is instigated now to deliberately tarnish the image of Mr Kamal Haasan. Raaj Kamal Films had got into an arrangement with Tirupathi Brothers Film Media Private Limited to produce the film Uttama Villain on a first copy basis. Raajkamal completed all its obligations and handed over the first copy to Tirupathi Brothers as agreed. So there is no basis to say that Mr Gnanavel paid Mr Kamal Haasan to get the film released. There is no privity between Mr Gnanavel or Mr Kamal Haasan in any manner.” (sic)
The production house also added that it is looking at taking legal action against those trying to defame Kamal Haasan’s image and their reputation.
