Kamal Haasan vowed to carry on his mentor, the late K Balachander's legacy when he was speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad. The actor said, 'Whatever I've learnt about films and writing is all from K Balachander sir. We worked together for 37 films and Uttama Villain was our last film. That is my score as a player in this field. I believe that some people never leave us completely.
They leave a certain part of themselves behind and it's through my work that I hope to continue his legacy.'
After unveiling the first look of his upcoming film, Thoonga Vanam, Kamal Haasan said, 'The last time I came to Hyderabad and expressed my desire to act in a Telugu film, no one took me seriously. To be honest, I never promise to do something if I'm not serious about it. I'm going to act in more Telugu films in future under my banner. It was Prakash Raj who further encouraged me to do this film in both Telugu and Tamil. Both of us share a good rapport and we are from the same K Balachander's school. Now that our guru has passed away, I promised Prakash that I'll be like his elder brother.'
Directed by Rajesh, the film, touted to be an action thriller, also stars Trisha, Prakash Raj and Kishore in important roles.
