Kamal Hasan calls CAA implementation 'Dark day for India': 'I will fight against this legally and politically with all my might'

After Thalapathy Vijay’s strong stance against the implementation of CAA, the Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan has also voiced his opposition to the bill. The actor deemed March 12 a dark day for India upon the official notification of CAA implementation.

Kamal Haasan took to his official Twitter account and wrote, “A dark day for India. A religion-based citizenship test is antithetical to the secular constitutional foundations of the republic, and I will fight against this legally and politically with all my might. #CAA #MNMagainstCAA #CAANotification.”

Kamal declared this law as an anti-religious and secular move by the central government and pledged to fight both politically and legally with maximum effort.


Earlier today, he remembered the father of India, MK Gandhi, and his historic move with the Dandi March on March 12. He wrote, “Gandhi demonstrated to his peers and to India through the Dandi Yatra that we can reclaim our rights through people's struggles without violence. On March 12, 1930, Gandhi's march with 79 trained Satyagraha activists became one of the great turning points in India's liberation history. A 61-year-old man with scarred feet who had walked hundreds of kilometers bent down on the beach of Dandi, scooped up a handful of salt, and raised his arms to the sky and said, 'What we have in our hands is not just salt. Kamal Haasan and his party have issued a lengthy notice mentioning that the act of the central government is coinciding with the upcoming election, and the Ramadan fasting is truly pre-planned.
