It was during the finale of
Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4 that
Kamal Haasan announced that he would be launching his own brand, called ‘House of Khaddar’, with an aim to popularise the Indian handwoven material. And now, the Ulaganayagan is leaving no stone unturned to make his foray into the fashion world a memorable one.
Kamal will be going to the US next month to launch his clothing line in Chicago.
He will be launching the Fall Winter collection 2021, with the catchphrase, 'Fashion is being civil yet disobedient'. Buzz is that the launch is likely to happen around his birthday, November 7.
The series of clothing is designed by Kollywood-based well-known costume designer and stylist Amritha Ram, who has been styling the actor and his daughter
Shruti Haasan in recent times.
Commenting on the move, Kamal Haasan says, “What we are proud of is that we have chosen a material which made a world political statement for India. Khadi is very closely associated to our history and we take pride in it. From a pure comfort point of view, khadi is an all-weather textile. It can take on the discontent of the winter as well as the sweat and toil of the summer. Our endeavour is to make khadi relatable to the young urban market and uplift the weavers and artisans who create this beautiful art.”
Kamal has been using khadi material a lot in the costumes that he is sporting in the weekend episodes of Season 5 of Bigg Boss Tamil, which he anchors.
