Actor-filmmaker
Kamal Haasan is likely to meet leaders of the 24 Muslim organisations who opposed the release of his mega-budget multilingual 'Vishwaroopam' today afternoon after returning from Mumbai. The star actor had left to Mumbai a couple of days back for the Hindi version Vishwaroop's release yesterday (Feb 1st)
Kamal Haasan and Muslim leaders will meet to decide what cuts should be made to the film so that theatres could screen it in
Tamil Nadu, said Chandra Haasan earlier.
Even as the second round of talks was to be held yesterday evening, the Islamic organizations seem to have insisted on Kamal's presence at the talks as taking a decision on deletion of some sequences in the film was impossible in his absence.
Both parties agreed to sit and discuss the matter after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said her government would release his film if Kamal Haasan could reach an amicable solution with the protesting groups.
The Rs.95 crore espionage thriller was originally scheduled to release in Tamil and Telugu on Jan 25. A day before the screenings, the Tamil Nadu government imposed a two-week ban on the film after some Muslim groups complained that some scenes in the film portrayed the community in a bad light.
The Muslim organizations were reportedly very firm in their demand that at least 30 minutes of the films sequences would have to be deleted. Chandra Haasan reportedly informed about their plea to Kamal Haasan to which Kamal is said to have replied that he would decide about it on his return from Mumbai.
