Kamal Haasan remembers filmmaker K Balachander in a heartfelt video

Actor extraordinaire Kamal Haasan paid a touching tribute to his mentor and multiple National Film Award-winning Tamil director K Balachander, on what would have been the latter director's 90th birthday. Kamal spoke about his relationship with the director and recalled his journey with him in a video for Kavithalayaa Productions on Thursday.
"Mr.K.Balachander. A mere name with fame that I heard as a teenager.Who would have thought he would take many roles in the life of an actor like me. Benefactor, mentor, collaborator, father & now when I think of his child like energy, I feel the pride of a father," Kamal said in a tweet, adding that the video was his salute to this important son of Indian Cinema.

Kamal Haasan has collaborated with K Balachander in numerous acclaimed films including 'Apoorva Raagangal' (1975), 'Moondru Mudichu' (1976), Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981) and 'Punnagai Mannan' (1986), among others. K Balachander's final film was with Kamal Haasan in 'Uthama Villain', where he played a filmmaker and mentor to Kamal's character. The veteran filmmaker passed away in 2014.
