passed away yesterday in Chennai, due to age-related ailments. As condolences poured in from his fans and followers of his work on social media, actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to condole his death by speaking about his legacy in Tamil poetry and writing.

Speaking about his contribution to Tamil cinema, Kamal spoke about his incredible writing skills especially when it came to romantic songs. A writer who has literature and art in his eyes such as Pulamaipithan, will always live through his work, he added.

The veteran lyricist has penned songs for top stars including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. He had been admitted in a hospital earlier last week, due to ill health. The lyricist is known for penning yesteryear hits such as 'Naan Yaar Nee Yaar' from MGR's 1968 film 'Kudiyirundha Koil'. Most recently, he had penned the lyrics for the song 'Thaaimai' sung by Bombay Jayashri in Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Theri' directed by Atlee.
