After winning accolades for headlining the Malayalam blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra , Kalyani Priyadarshan is now all set to play the primary lead in a Tamil film for the first time! The untitled film will helmed by debutant Thiraviyam SN, and also feature Anumol, Devadarshni, Sujith Shanker and Vinoth Kishan in crucial roles.Referring to the film as “a drama thriller with a slight black humour touch”, the filmmaker states, “The film is about Kalki, a relatable lower middle-class girl. It talks about how someone like her would react when trapped in a critical situation. Kalyani’s character would be in a similar zone like Nayanthara ma’am in Kolamaavu Kokila .”
Kalyani Priyadarshan’s 'Lokah – Chapter One' Becomes Highest-Grossing Malayalam Film With ₹278 Crore
Thiraviyam shares that it’s Kalyani’s relatability that made him approach her for the project. “We thought her features and acting would help the film. She comes across as relatable and that’s also how the character is,” he states.Interestingly, he feels that Lokah ’s success isn’t an added pressure but an advantage for his film. “We narrated this script to Kalyani two-three months before Lokah was released. As a director, I want my film to reach a wider audience and that will now happen due to Lokah ’s success. That film was a superhero subject, while ours is a relatable film with a girl next door as the protagonist. So, for us, Lokah ’s success isn’t a pressure but an advantage.
