Jakes Bejoy is giving the tunes to the upcoming period film 'Kaantha' directed by
Selvamani Selvaraj. Recently the musician took to his social media handle to share his pride in being part of the film and the director calling him Tamil cinema's "new visionary director".
Jakes Bejoy honoured to score for 'Kaantha'
On X (formerly Twitter) shared that he is honored to be composing the background scores. He also shared his confidence in the director, stating he is "here to stay". "Honoured to have contributed to the background score of Kaantha. Selvamani Selvaraj has arrived and boy he's here to stay…Tamil cinema has a new visionary director and I say this with confidence," he wrote.
The movie also features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead and Rana Daggubati making a special appearance and co-producing the film. Jakes Bejoy went to claim that the film probably has some of the career's best performances of the film. "KAANTHA has probably some of the career best performance from the lead cast esp Dq, Samuthirakani Anna, Raana brother and Bhagyashri," he wrote.
Collaboration with Jhanu Chanter
Jakes also took a moment to acknowledge the original composer of the film, Jhanu Chanter, who created the film’s soulful songs and primary themes. His post reads, "The soulful songs and themes of the film was composed by the amazing Jhanu Chanter, and I was happy to step in and complete the background score to support the team for the final stretch."
About the film 'Kaantha'
Speaking about the film, 'Kaantha' is set in 1950's Madras, which shows the tense relationship between an actor and director.
Originally slated for a September 12 release, the makers postponed the film and later announced its new release date as November 14.
The early reviews of the film have started to surface on social media, where internet users suggest Dulquer Salmaan commands the screen with his role.
