Kaadhal Ozhiga! Parthiban recalls the shelved film with Seeman on Valentine's Day
On this Valentine’s Day, as the world celebrates love, director and actor Parthiban took to Instagram to recall a film he once worked on, titled 'Kaadhal Ozhiga', which was shelved years ago. The film, originally directed by Seeman and with music by Ilaiyaraaja, was set to be a significant part of his career but was later abandoned. Parthiban reflected on the memories tied to that film and the bond of friendship he shares with Seeman.
In his post, Parthiban expressed his nostalgia for the lost project, writing, "Kaadhal Ozhiga... On this very day, years ago, a title was chosen for a film that I was to act in, under Seeman’s direction, with music by Ilaiyaraaja. Although the film was abandoned, the friendship remains intact, and our mutual respect for each other's work continues. When Seeman praised some of my poems on stage, the ideas within them started to blossom again, much like fresh buds on old roots. I still relish listening to his words closely, feeling the essence of his speech resonate with me."
He also touched upon their differing political ideologies and philosophies, acknowledging the tension between their views. "Although we have different political thoughts, one common thread binds us — Periyar’s voice and Seeman’s interpretation of it. While I speak what I believe is right, Seeman, too, is loud and clear with his stance," he wrote.
Reflecting on love itself, Parthiban shared his melancholic yet philosophical thoughts: "Love is like a passing moment — it arrives and departs as expected. What once felt like love may no longer hold its place, much like Seeman's posters of Periyar on walls today. But in my heart, the imprint remains, much like the way some things never fade away." He concluded with poetic reflections on love, time, and the continuation of life, marking Valentine’s Day with his personal take on love, loss, and the persistence of emotions.
