Producer R B Choudarys alleged financial issues might get in the way of his son Jiivas films. It is rumoured that some theatre owners, who have lost about Rs 65 lakhs because of Rowthiram and the Telugu flick Rachcha, both of which the producer was associated with, might show their wrath on his films and Jiivas. A source says, Choudary had a couple of films in the last few years (
Rowthiram and
Rachcha) and both did not do well at the box office.
He owes some theatres money but is yet to pay them back. In fact, Rachcha was released a day late in Chennai because of these issues. At that time, he (Choudary) had promised to repay them back soon but hasnt kept his word till date despite several attempts to sort out the issue. Now, there is a section of the exhibitors who are planning to boycott his son Jiivas projects until they get their money back.
Jiiva has a couple of big projects including Mysskins
Mugamoodi and Gautham Menons
Neethane En Ponvasantham lined up.
When contacted, Rohini Paneerselvam, Secretary,
Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association, says, Its true that R B Choudary owes some theatre owners a sum of upto Rs 65 lakhs. Were yet to finalize what our future course of action will be.
However, when CT contacted R B Choudary, he says, This is news to me. I dont owe anybody any money.
Hand in hand with SRK Jiiva has joined the ad bandwagon now and will soon be seen endorsing a DTH service provider! A source says, He has been roped in to be the brand ambassador of a DTH service provider for the south. Interestingly, Shah Rukh has been associated with this brand for the longest time. This makes Jiiva the first celebrity from the south to be signed on as the face of the product for a whopping amount. He will soon start shooting for the ad campaign.
