The trailer for the most anticipated second installment of Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' was unveiled by Kamal Haasan on March 29 and the star cast Vikram ,Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai and Jayam Ravi attended the trailer launch event conducted on that day.
Actor Jayam Ravi who played the titular role in the movie revealed that the second part of the film will be more emotional. “The first part of the movie was a huge success. The second part will be very emotional. I cannot reveal much now. I am very proud to be part of the film .As everyone expects, the movie has all emotions and is more interesting. I am equally excited as the fans to watch the film on the big screen.”
When questioned about his screen time in the film as he appeared only in the second half of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, Jayam Ravi said, “I appeared only for a certain amount of time in the first part of the movie as my role is like that. More than that, the film is taken in such a way that gives justice to the story of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and that’s how Mani Ratnam has made the film. Everyone’s role has been given importance, given equal screen timing too. ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ will be more successful than ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’,” he concluded.
‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ was released on September 30, 2022 and the movie became one of the blockbusters and it gave a good ground break for all the lead actors marking their comeback into Tamil cinema.
