'I'm a character artiste'

Ever wondered how a girl studying in school can transform quickly into a teacher?
Vega has got that potential. After playing Saroja, a rebellious school student in Saroja, Vega is all set to mesmerise the audience as a school teacher in Pasanga. 'I can't believe that I'm doing such different characters in my consecutive ventures. I am completely clad in salwar and sari in Pasanga.Isn't it wonderful?' she asks.
When it comes to her acting prowess, Vega is no novice. 'I am part of a theatre group in Bombay, called the Actors' Cult. We have been staging plays across the country and recently, one of our plays, Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhe, a musical, received the META award,' she says.
In Pasanga, she plays Sobikannu, a KG school teacher. 'A bunch of small kids play the lead and I am a character artiste in this movie,' she says and laughs. 'I had to try very hard to keep a straight face while shooting. Those kids ' Kishore, Sriram, Dharani, Murugesh, Mangalam, Vimal and Rakod ' were brats. We used to play hide and seek on the sets. They call me akka and I also learnt Tamil from them. I didn't feel like a grown-up in their company.'
Ask her what the movie is all about and she says, 'As adults, we think that the burden of the whole world lies on our shoulder. We fail to recognise certain issues which children face. The film gives an idea of how a child views the world and all the things in it. Director Pandiraj has delved deep into their emotions and I'm sure this is one movie which is made solely for children.'
Apart from Pasanga, Vega has two other movies in her kitty. 'I'm doing a Telugu movie, Houseful, in which I play a 25-year-old hair stylist. I also have Aamras from the makers of Bheja Fry in Hindi in which I play an 18-year-old school girl, who is an introvert, unlike me!' she signs off.
