Young director

Arun Prasath

, who had assisted Shankar in his films, passed away in a road accident in Coimbatore on Friday. While the film fraternity has expressed its condolences to his family, GV Prakash, who played the lead in Arun's directorial debut

4G

, has penned a long note in his memory.

In his message, GV Prakash wrote, “I couldn’t believe my ears when I was informed that Venkat Pakkar (Arun went by this name when he directed 4G) passed away. I couldn’t think clearly and the news is yet to sink in. All the directors I work with become my close friends. Venkat was my friend, my family, too. I was confident he’d have become a bankable director in Kollywood, but he passed away too soon.”

He continued, “I immediately agreed to do 4G when he narrated the script to me. It was a different story, but Venkat had done the screenplay so well, and my confidence in the project increased when I started shooting for it. I can never forget those days I spent on the set with him. He might be young, but he is very wise and intelligent. He finished shooting much before the stipulated time, and that too, without compromising on the story. He had that passion, that drive, to make it big in the industry as a big director. I’m sure the audience will feel that passion and his directorial abilities when they watch 4G. I’ll speak more about Venkat when we hold the film’s audio launch and pre-release functions. I’ll definitely miss you bro.”
