Ilavarasu, the secretary of the South Indian Film Cinematographers Association, has filed a petition in the Madras High Court over the financial irregularities that happened in the association. But the Madras High Court issued a warning to actor Ilavarasu.
In 2018, the South Indian Film Cinematographers Association complained to former employees of the association with the Thyagaraya Nagar police station in connection with financial irregularities. The High Court directed the Madras Central Crime Branch police to complete the investigation into the complaint as soon as possible and submit the final report to the concerned court within four months. On behalf of the cinematographers' association, its secretary and actor, Ilavarasu, filed a petition in the Madras High Court, alleging that the police had not completed the specific investigation based on the order.
When the case came up for trial on December 12, actor Ilavarasu failed to attend the hearing and submitted his statement a day later, on December 13. The related surveillance cameras submitted by the police claimed that the actor was in Chennai on December 12. But Ilavarasu objected to the camera evidence and claimed the footage was fake. Further investigation then revealed that Ilavarasu didn't go to Mamallapuram as the shoot was cancelled on December 12 and he was in the South Indian Cinematographer's Association.
After examining the documents submitted by the police department, the judge warned Ilavarasu not to lie in court after the recent hearing. The judge also demanded that Ilavarasu apologise for the mistake and warned the actor that he would face consequences if he failed to do so. Following the order, Ilavarasu shared his apologies, while the judge condemned the respective police officers for not investigating the former's complaint appropriately.
