Legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja has now addressed the controversy surrounding his recent visit to the Srivilliputhur Aandal temple in Tamil Nadu, where he was reportedly asked to leave the temple's sanctum during his visit on Sunday (15th December) evening. The musician took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share that the recently circulating news about him is a clear rumour.

Refuting the claims, Ilaiyaraaja made a clear statement regarding the false information surrounding the incident. In a statement written in Tamil, he remarked, "Some people are spreading false rumours centred around me. I am not one to compromise my self-respect at any time or place, and I will not compromise. They are spreading news that did not happen, as if it happened. Fans and the public should not believe these rumours."
The music icon was at the temple to release his latest composition, "Divya Pasuram," and was accompanied by Sadagopa Ramanuja Iyer and Sadagopa Ramanuja Jeeyar of the Sri Andal Jeeyar Mutt in the traditional white umbrella procession. Just after a video of the music director went viral on the internet, showing one of the temple priests requesting him to move slightly away from the sanctum (garbhagriha), reports claimed that they were asked to leave as they moved towards the sacred area housing the deity, but Ilaiyaraaja dismissed these as falsehoods.
On the work front, Ilaiyaraaja's life is being chronicled in a biographical film. The film's first look was unveiled on March 20 at a special event attended by Kamal Haasan, Vetri Maaran, Gangai Amaren, and Bharathiraja. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the biopic will feature Dhanush in the lead role, with Ilaiyaraaja himself composing the music. Cinematography will be handled by Nirav Shah.
