“I was looking out for scripts for my production house in Tollywood, and

Tharun Bhaskar

, the director of Pelli Choopulu, who is a good friend of mine, suggested this one by Balu Sharma. We have not been seeing many films in

Kollywood

in this genre and I felt it would work here,” begins Sameer Bharat Ram, who will be producing this film.

While

Hrishkesh

will play the male lead, the team is introducing Shirley Babithra, a model, as the heroine. “We were looking out for fairly new faces to play the couple. Hrishkesh has this urban-boy looks, and Shirley, who is from Coimbatore, fit the bill as she knows the language,” he says and adds that the two actor will be playing a married couple. “

RJ Ajai will be playing a crucial supporting role. Karunakaran and Yogi Babu are also part of the cast.

Sharanya, who has assisted Nirav Shah in 2.0, is debuting as a cinematographer. As for the music, Sameer says that they are treating the film like a musical anthology. “We will have five songs by five different composers. It’s a trend in Bollywood, and hasn’t caught on here. We are talking to young composers like Darbuka Siva, Nivas Prasanna, Vivek-Mervin and Vishal Chandrashekar. We are also planning to launch a couple of composers.

The film will be going on floors on September 1. He informs that they are planning to make the Telugu version with an altogether different cast. “In Telugu, we are hoping to get Priyadarshi, who came as the hero’s friend in Pelli Choopulu, to play the lead. But the cast will comprise known faces. However, we are planning to finish shooting the Tamil version first before starting the Telugu film,” he says.
