Jayam Ravi is one of the charming talented heroes in Tamil cinema, and he last played the main role in Mani Ratnam's historical drama 'Ponniyin Selvan 1'. His character in the film is an important role and he is set to rock even bigger with the film's part 2. Apart from 'Ponniyin Selvan', Jayam Ravi is also part of several key projects, and 'Agilan', which is directed by Kalyan Krishnan, is one among them. The action thriller was initially scheduled to release in August ahead of the 'Ponniyin Selvan 1', but the film failed to hit the big screens, and there has been no update from the makers regarding the film's release.

According to a source close to the team, the reason for the film's delay is that since 'Agilan' has been set in a harbor and sea backdrops, theefore film involves several computer graphics. The makers have made scenes affecting several brands involved in the business, and they were asked to change names to get a NOC for the film's release. This made the team rework and they have now received the NOC by changing the names. 'Agilan' will be passing the censor and the film is expected to hit the theatres in March.

'Agilan' marks the reunion of Jayam Ravi with director Kalyan Krishnan, who earlier directed the actor's boxing drama 'Bhooloham'. Priya Bhavani Shankar and Tanya Ravichandran play female leads, while Jayam Ravi is reported to be appearing in a dual role. Meanwhile, the post-theatrical rights of 'Agilan' have been sold for the highest price for Jayam Ravi's individual film.
